Originally from the UK, Anita sees the New Zealand landscape in a fresh way. Anita came to painting when she retired from a busy business life and discovered that painting expressed her love of the land, sea & skies of NZ. She particularly likes the atmospheric mood of NZ’s changing light.
Previously tutored by Karl Amundsen, her compositions encapsulate the interesting mix of softness and strength. She works in oils with a tight colour palette in a painterly and gestural style moving towards landscape inspired semi-abstract.
The paintings start with a connection to a remembered scene often then becoming less site specific and more about what emotion does the painting evoke.
Anita’s paintings are in homes throughout NZ.
